My name is April Nelson and I am the owner, director, and lead teacher at Bloom Engaged Learning Academy. I have 3 children of my own, who are the drive and inspiration to create this special learning environment. I am a pediatric speech-language pathologist that began working as a preschool and transitional kindergarten teacher at my daughters' nature preschool, Kinder Garden Preschool. It was at this amazing school that I realized my passion for teaching and where I gained the support and confidence to extend the positive preschool experience beyond, into the school age years. Working as a teacher, along side the parents, has helped me realize that this is what I am meant to do. I have found my passion and I can now appreciate the Mark Twain quote, "Find a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life."

The Passion Behind the Pursuit......

I am beyond excited to be creating the school experience that I have been unsuccessfully searching for for my own children. I researched and toured several schools, searched Facebook pages and asked other mothers, and I simply could not find my ideal learning environment. I wanted to be able to be highly involved, yet allow my kids space to grow independently. I was looking for a community where parent support was not only accepted, but desired and appreciated. Where children were not a means to a high test score, but were being fostered to love learning and educators would meet them where they are and let them follow their interests and advance at their own pace. A place that was welcoming and kind, where teachers had a supportive and connected role with the students and families. An environment that prioritized the well-being of the children and promoted health and balance through being outside and eating good foods. A place that children looked forward to going to and that parents felt connected to and proud to be a part of. A place that is accepting of all, no matter what their religious background or beliefs. Where happiness, self-esteem, and positive interactions with classmates are deemed of the highest value. And so, Bloom Engaged Learning Academy has come to fruition and is a dream come true for myself and my family!
